This is a celebration honoring the body of Christ. Today we went to Comuña, a small villiage to participate in the festivities. The celebration begins 60 days after the death of Christ. Basically they celebrate the atonement. They do a "baile del pecado" or sin dance and then the Alfonzo looking masks change to a normal nose make representing forgiveness from sins. They also walk the supposed body of Christ through the streets in a procession. It was amazing to be there and I bought the masks.
