So yesterday I spent the morning in the National library of Madrid. Let me just say that this is a BIG deal. You have to have a special library card to enter and only individuals with specific research inquisitions can enter. Not a public library. Well I was issued a "carne" or meat pass good for 5 years. In the first room I entered I saw a comic/ picture book used by missionaries in the 1000 AD and two scetch books of Leonardo Divinci, just to name a few. The library is so strict on their policies, you are not allowed to touch books on the shelves, that is what the librarians are for. They have collections of literature, art, and music from the beginning of collectors aquisions to modern times. At the end of our tour we saw an original map, all 6 parts of Breda, possibly original sketches from Velazquez's pre-drawing for Las Lanzas, original lithographs of Goya's caprichos and touch a book that was nearly 500 years old that told all about Velazquez. Seriously couldn't help but think of dad- you would be in HEAVEN! I'm definitely going to take advantage of that carne pass!
Is there are way to date your entries? Just curious...then we could know what you are doing when.
ReplyDeleteHey Em...if you want to add dates, just go to posting and click on post options towards the bottom and click the automatic date thing. You can also schedule them to post whenever you want.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome opportunity...thx for sharing with us!!
